Sonic the Hedgehog; Episode #2 OPENING SCENE: Wide shot of a huge generator complex, with SONIC, TAILS and KNUCKLES standing at the entrance. SONIC So this must be the entrance to Robotropolis! TAILS I never expected Robotnik to live in such an amazing place! KNUCKLES Careful, you don't want to get too blown away! SONIC You're right - come on, let's go! The trio runs down into the complex. TAILS We're on the right track, just keep going straight! SONIC Got it! KNUCKLES I'm getting seriously pumped up about this Sonic! SONIC Just don't enjoy yourself so much you let your guard down! KNUCKLES I'll be fine. Ha ha! Several laser blasts hit close by, fired by hidden security snail robots. KNUCKLES Leave these guys to me, you go on ahead! SONIC Alright! Good luck. Sonic and Tails run ahead. Sonic races at top speed toward the Robot Generator, but can't reach it because the conveyor belt that leads to it runs in the opposite direction. Tails accidentally bumps into him from behind, and sends him further up the conveyor belt, but still can't reach the lever. SONIC Tails, come on, fly! TAILS Oh you're right! Tails flies to the gererator and tries to pull the turn-off lever, but he isn't strong enough. TAILS It's way too heavy! KNUCKLES (busts through the wall) Hang on! Knuckles reaches the lever and pulls it - the generator stops only one second before meltdown. Because of the conveyor belt stopping, Sonic bumps into the wall with the switch. All the lights in Robotropolis go out, leaving the city shrouded in darkness. Suddenly Sonic is trapped in a forcefield. The conveyor belt starts up again. Knuckles tries running toward Sonic on the conveyor belt, which is still moving. KNUCKLES Don't worry, I'll have you out of there in no time! The Robot Generator crumbles apart, and Sonic falls into the abyss below. Knuckles can catch him just in time before hitting ground. KNUCKLES Gotcha! TAILS Sonic, are you alright? In the distance a glowing egg of purple energy becomes visible. KNUCKLES Something's moving in there! The energy egg goes off in a flash, and when the smoke clears, Sonic stands face to face with his metallic counterpart. TAILS It's a robot that looks exactly like Sonic! KNUCKLES It came out of that sphere! Laughter is heard, and the whole room is filled with beautiful lights. KNUCKLES What is that? TAILS It's pretty! The lights turn into blue flames and head off into the distance, from where moments later Metal Robotnik emerges. TAILS I think it's the ghost of Metal Robotnik! We see that Robotnik's robots are actually lifting Metal Robotnik to make it look like he's rising. All the bots get out of the way, except for a short one in the middle, until he realizes Metal Robotnik is about to fall. The Metal Robotnik robot falls to pieces. TAILS It just broke apart! Sara and Robotnik emerge from the heap of scrap metal. SONIC Sara? SARA (turns around and smiles, while holding onto Robotnik's mustache.) TAILS What are Sara and Dr. Robotnik doing out here together? KNUCKLES I get it! So you two were BOTH Metal Robotnik! SARA (starts crying) TAILS (smiling wickedly at Knuckles) Look at that Knuckles, you made her cry! SARA Oh, it wasn't my fault! Metal Robotnik, and the Robot Generator going haywire were all part of Robotnik's evil scheme! (meanwhile Robotnik slowly lowers with each word Sara says) SONIC So what about this plot, Robotnik? ROBOTNIK Hehehe! (blows raspberries) You fell for my trap! You came all the way here and now you'll die here! Good job Sonic! SONIC What'd you say!? Sonic races toward Robotnik, but Metal Sonic is there first, stopping Sonic's attack. TAILS This is terrible! ROBOTNIK I, Dr. Robotnik, scientist extraordinaire, have finally completed my greatest invention ever! I call it the Hyper Metal Sonic! TAILS That robot may look like him but it'll never be a match for the real Sonic! ROBOTNIK Tails, this should be apparent to you! Sonic wasn't being electrocuted earlier, instead I was transferring his Life Data, and collecting all the information essential to my creation! Now, Hyper Metal Sonic is ready! SARA What are you planning to do with a stupid fake Sonic robot anyway? ROBOTNIK I'm going to use Metal to destroy the real Sonic, and then I can completely destroy the Land of the Sky! SARA What did you say? There's no way you'll ever get away with this! Sara tries to give Robotnik a good hit, but his robot-minions restrain her. SONIC Release Sara now, Robotnik! ROBOTNIK Hehehe, but first you must fight him! Go get him, Hyper Metal Sonic! Metal Sonic scans his targets. SONIC Everybody stand back! Nobody try to help me! I have to destroy this imposter! Metal Sonic starts his turbo engine, and the fight begins. KNUCKLES Man, he's fast! I've never seen anything able to keep up with Sonic! Robotnik watches the fight from his Egg-O-Matic, with a tied and gagged Sara sitting on the sideseat. ROBOTNIK Hahahaha! Finally I have an invention that will mark my place in history forever and give me the recognition I deserve! Sonic gets hit and loses consciousness. TAILS I think Sonic's in trouble! Mecha Sonic grabs Sonic. ROBOTNIK Hehehe! Go Metal! Mecha Sonic flies away, with Sonic in tow. KNUCKLES Wait, Tails! Come back here! Tails flies after Metal Sonic, but Knuckles grabs his foot. KNUCKLES Tails, hold up! TAILS But if we don't hurry up, then... KNUCKLES Calm down! There's no way that either one of us is going to be able to chase them down like this, so we've got to think of another way to catch them! A gigantic rock falls toward them from above, and the two barely manage to get out of the way. KNUCKLES He did say he wanted to destroy the Land of the Sky, didn't he? Robotnik unties Sara. ROBOTNIK I'm sorry, were the ropes uncomfortable Sara? Hahaha! Come on, don't be mad. Stay with me for a little longer! SARA No, I don't want to, I wanna go home now! ROBOTNIK Ah, but I was just about to show you something that's really spectacular! Sonic and Mecha Sonic continue fighting, until Sonic looses sight of his opponent. Sonic stops on a high peak. SONIC (thinking) Where did he go? Mecha Sonic appears right in front of Sonic and gives him a kick that sends him falling toward the far-away ground below. Robotnik monitors the progress of the fight on a display from his Egg-O-Matic. Finally Sonic's life signs drop to zero. ROBOTNIK Looks like that's it! Hahahaha! HAHAHAHA! Sonic will never again be a pain in my egg! Tails is flying toward the Warp Zone, with Knuckles still holding onto his foot. KNUCKLES Tails, what're you doing? There's a Warp Zone right in front of us! TAILS We're picking up the Tornado and going home! KNUCKLES What? What are we going to do about Sonic... Tails and Knuckles enter the Warp. At Sonic's headquarters, the old man has made himself comfortable on the beach. OLD MAN What a perfect night for lying on the beach! A figure appears in the distance. It has the same silhouette as Sonic. OLD MAN Ah - Master Sonic, I wasn't expecting you back so soon! The figure approaches the old man, and we see that it's Metal Sonic. But he still doesn't notice. OLD MAN Master Sonic? Is there something wrong? Wait! What're you doing? STOP!!! Wide shot of a beautiful forest. Sonic wakes up in a huge bush that broke his fall. SONIC Where in the world am I? I remember leaving Robotropolis... Sonic has a brief flashback of his fight with Metal Sonic. SONIC I know! I've got to stop Metal! From the palace, the PRESIDENT looks at the cities on the neighborhood islands. Most of them are burning. PRESIDENT Could this be the work of Metal Robotnik? Meanwhile, Knuckles and Tails have reached Sonic's headquarters, using the damaged Tornado as a raft. The headquarters is smoking at several places. KNUCKLES Oh no! The only person who would do something this terrible is Robotnik. It's a lucky thing no-one was staying here! TAILS THE OLD MAN WAS STAYING HERE AND WATCHING THE HOUSE! Tails and Knuckles enter the headquarters. TAILS Old man! Old man, where are you? KNUCKLES It doesn't look like anyone's even been in here! TAILS Old man, are you still in here somewhere? The old man approaches from the beach, wearing weird clothing and carrying a skateboard. OLD MAN I'm behind you, Tails! You've come home early! TAILS Those are Sonic's favorite clothes, so don't blame me if he gets mad at you! OLD MAN Don't worry about it - he was here last night! He forced me to put on these clothes and then flew away without saying anything! KNUCKLES & TAILS He flew away? Metal! Robotnik is approaching the capital cities of the Land of the Sky in his Egg-O-Matic. ROBOTNIK Hahaha! Metal is doing a great job! At this rate, the Land of the Sky will only last a few more hours! Now I can take my plan to the next stage! Robotnik produces a dress. ROBOTNIK Here you go Sara, this is a present I got for you! SARA (smiling) Yahoo! I love it! Close-up of the tracking device electronics that Robotnik gave to Tails. Tails is removing the main processor with the help of a microscope and some mechanical claws that he navigates with joysticks. Knuckles is watching. KNUCKLES Tails stop tinkering with that thing! We've got more important things to do - like finding Sonic! TAILS Metal Sonic and Robotnik's navigator are built out of the same kind of parts! I think I can use that to our advantage! I just have to make this work... KNUCKLES I get it - do you think you can actually find them? But what if Metal Sonic and Sonic aren't in the same place any more? TAILS Don't worry - Sonic and Metal will definitely be in the same place. KNUCKLES Umm... I don't get it. How can you be sure of that? TAILS Because Metal was programmed with all of Sonic's data. He knows everything - his likes, his dislikes, his personality, and all his thoughts. That's why he knew to come down here - and he even gave the old man his favorite clothes! KNUCKLES But Metal's a robot! He's not really Sonic! TAILS It doesn't matter that he's a robot. He's still operating completely through all of Sonic's thoughts. He knows everything that Sonic's ever felt or seen. The same goes for Sonic. In other words, they're like identical twins! KNUCKLES They're twins?! Wide shot of a large viewscreen in the president's palace. Pictures are displayed, showing close-ups of various parts of the city. VOICE Green Lake City has been flooded! Forest Town is currently on fire! ADVISOR Mr. President, we've found something - you need to see this! One of the pictures shows a silhouette that looks like Sonic's. PRESIDENT It's Sonic! B-but that's impossible! Get Sonic's house on the line immediately! ADVISOR Sure. Knuckles is busy repairing the Tornado, when he hears an incoming call. KNUCKLES SHUT UP! I'm busy! Hey, is someone gonna pick that up? PRESIDENT Tails answer that! Isn't anybody there? The viewscreen shows only the old man dancing to the music of Sonic's stereo. PRESIDENT Oh no, it's that idiot! What's he doing now? Hey! This is the President! You listen to me right... Knuckles comes into view. KNUCKLES Stop yelling! Who is this? PRESIDENT Who are you? KNUCKLES I'm Knuckles, I'm Sonic's best friend. PRESIDENT I see! Is Sonic there? Is Sara safe? What happened to Metal Robotnik and the Generator? KNUCKLES Does anybody around here care that I have work to do? OLD MAN (looks at the screen) Hiya, Pres! KNUCKLES (shocked) Eh? Meanwhile Sara has put on the dress Robotnik gave her. Robotnik is now wearing a green tux. SARA Robotnik, don't you think I look cute? ROBOTNIK Hmm, it suits you very well! SARA Why did you give me a wedding dress? ROBOTNIK What do you mean? Once Metal has destroyed the Land of the Sky, we'll be the only ones left! Then we can get married and live out the rest of our happy lives together Sara! Sara has a flashforward showing her married to Robotnik, with a dozen crying Robotnik-babies to look after and Robotnik singing a lullaby. (Rock-a-bye Robot, on the egg-top!) She isn't pleased at all by this thought. SARA (shaking Robotnik violently and clawing at his face) Are you crazy? I wouldn't marry you if you were the last man on Earth! Back at the president's palace. Tails and Knuckles have filled in the president about Robotnik's plans. PRESIDENT So that's what really happened. But even with all of Sonic's data, that creature still can't destroy the Land of the Sky, can he? KNUCKLES It's possible. I've travelled the subterranean levels of this planet and I know them better than anyone. I've seen first-hand what his target is going to be, and it's at the northernmost tip of this continent. The Land of the Sky is held together by a huge glacier which joins the continents. Beneath the continents lie rivers of magma that spread all over the planet like blood vessels. If the tip of the glacier was punctured by an explosion, the magma would rush to the surface, melting all the ice! The very backbone of our Planet Freedom would be shattered! The rotation of the planet would hurl the continents into outer space, where they would be blown to pieces. PRESIDENT Oh... this is impossible... TAILS Sir, please don't tell Sonic anything about what we just told you. PRESIDENT I know that! SONIC (standing on a railing behind the president) Why shouldn't you tell me? TAILS Sonic? PRESIDENT Oh Sonic, you're safe! Good! SONIC You're too late - I already heard all of it! TAILS Sonic you don't understand! This is bad! VOICE Metal Sonic has just turned northward at top speed! PRESIDENT What? Metal is planning to melt the glaciers to the north! We have to stop him at any cost! The president turns around, but Sonic has already left. PRESIDENT Sonic? Tails, Sonic just disappeared from here! He must have gone after Metal on his own! KNUCKLES & TAILS That's bad! PRESIDENT We'll have to do our best too - we have to stop Metal no matter what! Robotnik is monitoring everything on a display in his Egg-O-Matic, which shows the outlines of the planet. ROBOTNIK Hehehe! We're going to the North Pole! That means Metal has finally found the point of destruction! You should get ready now Sara! SARA (kicking and screming furiously) No, no! I don't want to get married at the North Pole!! No! ROBOTNIK Calm down. Be quiet, buckle up and hang on - we're hitting a Warp Zone! The Egg-O-Matic disappears. Tails and Knuckles fly in the repaired Tornado, Knuckles standing on top of its wings as Sonic usually does. Tails has put the navigation device back together, but now the radar display shows the heads of Sonic and Metal Sonic, along with their brain waves. TAILS All right! Now we go into Metal's memory banks and adjust them so Sonic's personality comes out! KNUCKLES Hey Tails, are you sure you can trust that thing? After all, it was built by Robotnik before he gave it to you! TAILS Don't worry about it - just keep your eyes peeled for Sonic! KNUCKLES I know what to do! Wide shot of the ice bridges. Metal Sonic smashes a hole in the ground, freeing the magma underneath. While overlooking his work, he suddenly notices Sonic approaching. SONIC Hmm, I got here too late! Metal has to still be around here somewhere! Metal Sonic comes out of the ice right underneath Sonic. Both zip away, taking positions some distance away from each other. SONIC (rubbing his nose) So now we can get down to the REAL fight! Last Sonic standing will be the winner! METAL SONIC (rubs his nose in the same fashion) SONIC (having obviously read Metal's thoughts) What? This world isn't big enough for both of us and one of us has to go? METAL SONIC (nods) SONIC Well, I agree! Sonic and Metal fight, until they meet forehead-to-forehead, both running at top speed and pushing against the other. SONIC You might know everything I'm going to do, but that's not gonna help you since I know everything you're going to do! Strange, isn't it? Both shoot straight upward. At the same moment, Robotnik's Egg-O-Matic comes out of the Warp overhead. Sonic lands on the front part, Metal Sonic crashes through the Egg-O-Matic's bottom, his head coming out inside. ROBOTNIK Oh no! How is it that you're still alive Sonic? What? What's wrong with you? What are you doing? SARA (kicking at Metal Sonic's head) Iiieh! No! No! No! No! Don't come there you pervert! Sonic prances around wildly. ROBOTNIK I see, you're synchronising yourself with Metal! Then this is my chance! Robotnik tries to grab the hedgehog, but Sonic zips away and re-appears under the Egg-O-Matic, holding onto Metal Sonic's legs. Robotnik stumbles, which causes the Egg-O-Matic to tilt to the side. Sara falls out. SARA Aaaaaahhh!!! SONIC I'll save you! Sara plummets downward. SARA Aaaaaaahhh!!! ROBOTNIK Oh no, little Sara! Knuckles glides along close above the ice, and catches Sara in his arms. KNUCKLES Oops. Gotcha - that was close! Again Sonic and Mecha Sonic are engaged in a fight. SONIC Hey, Knuckles! TAILS (voice coming from behind the two) Sonic! The Tornado is heading straight into their direction, hitting Mecha Sonic and separating the two. ROBOTNIK Grr - you're a perfect target for me now, fox! The front part of the Egg-O-Matic opens, revealing a hare-shaped missile and a tortoise-shaped missile. Robotnik then takes aim at Tails' plane. ROBOTNIK Ready, ready, careful, fire! The hare-missile zooms away and hits the plane clear, causing it to explode. The Tortoise-missile however only 'walks' through the air at an extremely slow pace. ROBOTNIK Yes! (seeing tortoise-missile) Oh no, another design failure! More important, what's happened to Sara? Knuckles tries to land on the ice, but it's too slippery. KNUCKLES Aahhh!! Sara gives Knuckles a kiss, and he slumps to the ground. Tails managed to jump out of the plane in time, and is now rolling down a hill, turning into a snowball. TAILS Help! Somebody stop me! SARA Tee hee hee... I have more power than I thought I did! The Egg-O-Matic appears above Sara. ROBOTNIK There you are Sara! It's time for you to come with me now! Tails comes rolling along in a huge snowball. The snowball hits Sara and Knuckles, taking them along until it collides with a wall of ice. When the snow settles, we see that Tails is clinging to Sara's breasts. KNUCKLES Tails!! Get off! Tails realizes what he is holding onto, and jumps away quickly. TAILS (very embarrassed) I'm so sorry. KNUCKLES I never thought you'd stoop that low... Knuckles is interrupted by Sonic and Metal Sonic fighting. KNUCKLES Look! Metal's still going! TAILS Sonic too! Sonic gets heavily beaten up by Metal Sonic. SARA (screaming) Metal! Stop it! Metal turns his head toward Sara, which gives Sonic the opportunity to hit him in the back. Both crash into the ground, causing it to crack at a wide scale. TAILS If that ice bridge gets destroyed then we're doomed! Knuckles, stop the magma! KNUCKLES (hesitating) Er... I... dunno... SARA (to Knuckles) Would you try it for ME, brave man? Sara kisses Knuckles on the cheek, he turns even redder than he already is. KNUCKLES (saluting) Right! Yes Ma'am! Knuckles speeds up to the bridge and digs several holes into the ice that allows the magma to flow off. TAILS and SARA Yay! We stopped them! Good job! KNUCKLES (in feeling of achievement) Heh heh! Knuckles then notices his flaming hat. KNUCKLES (prancing wildly) Aaah! My hat's on fire! Help! Sonic appears in the distance, but is so exhausted from the battle with Metal Sonic that he can't keep on his feet. Metal gives him a kick, sending the hedgehog sliding over the ice straight toward Tails and Sara. Metal grabs Sonic by the throat and tries to strangle him. SARA No! Sonic! What're you doing to my Sonic? Sara starts hitting the robot, but without any effect. SARA This stupid thing looks like Sonic but it's BAD! TAILS I think I got it! This plan had better work! Tails starts fiddling with the controls of his wrist device like mad, trying to adjust it to Metal Sonic's brainwaves. SARA (still punching away at Metal Sonic) I'm not gonna let you destroy the Land of the Sky - 'cause then I'll have to marry Robotnik! Tails' wrist device emits a ringing sound. TAILS Come on... that's it! Metal Sonic lets go of Sonic and starts emitting sparks, unable to control himself. TAILS Get him NOW, SONIC! SONIC Right! With his last bit of strength, Sonic goes into a Spin Attack and sends Metal Sonic flying away into the distance. SARA Sonic! SONIC (barely able to speak) Good work Tails, you saved us! A ship flies past overhead and crashes into the ice bridge. SONIC Who is that? TAILS It doesn't look like Robotnik's ship... SARA That's Daddy's rocket! SONIC What'd you say? Inside the ship we see the president and the old man. They try to open the cockpit, but it seems to be stuck. SONIC What's wrong? I think the door's stuck! TAILS That's bad! The heat from the magma could make it explode! SONIC Sara, you wait here. Come on, let's go! The ship starts burning. SARA DADDY!! SONIC The President's timing couldn't be worse! TAILS If that thing explodes then we'll all be in trouble! Tails flies Sonic toward the ship, but suddenly Metal Sonic smashes into them, making both fall to the ground again. TAILS It's Metal! SONIC (angry) Step aside and let us get through, Metal, we've got to get to that ship! Tails! Tails gets ready to use his wrist device again. TAILS Sonic, you get the President out of that ship, and I'll take care of Robotnik... The wrist device is blasted to bits by a well-aimed shot from Robotnik, hovering behind them in his Egg-O-Matic. SONIC Robotnik! ROBOTNIK Trying to overload Metal's system by assimilating Sonic's personality! Impressive! Luckily you're too late to be a problem! Metal, DESTROY SONIC! Again Sonic and Metal Sonic fight. Knuckles sticks his head out of the ground to see what's going on and Sonic accidentally steps on it, causing a large swelling. Knuckles tries to break open the cockpit and free the president and the old man. TAILS Hurry! Hurry up! Sonic manages to make Metal Sonic collide with the class of the cockpit, which finally shatters. A few seconds later, the ship explodes. SARA DADDY! SONIC Mr President! Can you hear me? Metal Sonic appears in the smoke, carrying the president and the old man. TAILS Sonic! KNUCKLES Sonic, are you alright? SONIC (looking upward) Metal! No! Metal Sonic drops the president and the old man. Then a large piece of the exploded ship hits the robot and he falls down into the crater with the magma. Sonic jumps after him. TAILS Don't do it Sonic! What're you doing? Stop! SONIC! The heat prevents Sonic reaching Metal. The robot slowly crawls upward, toward Sonic's outstretched hand. SONIC Grab a hold of my hand! Knuckles grabs Sonic from behind, trying to pull him away. KNUCKLES Wait! Don't do it Sonic! He'll drag you under with him! Sonic refuses to listen. But when Metal is just close enough to grab Sonic's hand, he slaps it away. Sonic is shocked. METAL SONIC There is only one... Sonic... Metal Sonic slowly dissolves in the magma. SONIC (desperate) No! Metal! KNUCKLES Don't do it, Sonic! SONIC METAL!!! Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Old man, the President and Sara stand on an ice cliff overlooking the damage done by the magma. SARA C'mon, don't look so sad Sonic, it's not like you at all. TAILS She's right! You should be happy! Thanks to you the planet was saved! Robotnik appears in his Egg-O-Matic, showing a CD. EVERYONE Oh no! ROBOTNIK He he he... you're all fooled! I still have all of Sonic's data here! Next time I'll build an even stronger Metal that won't be handicapped by Sonic's personality! And then I will take over the entire planet! Hahahaha! It must be very humbling to be in the presence of such a great scientific mind! Unnoticed by Robotnik, the tortoise-missile he fired earlier is approaching him and snatches the CD. ROBOTNIK Hey, what're you doing? The tortoise-missile explodes, destroying the CD. Everyone laughs. PRESIDENT It's finally over, thank goodness everything's alright! KNUCKLES Almost! Not quite! Knuckles walks over to Sonic and hits him on the head. SONIC What did you do that for? KNUCKLES So now we're finally even, Sonic. Knuckles sticks out his tongue and runs off. SONIC What do you mean? Come back! Sonic runs after Knuckles. TAILS Sonic, wait for me! Wait for me! Tails flies after the two. SONIC Why did you hit me? KNUCKLES I was getting you back for stepping on my head, Sonic! SONIC I don't remember doing that! KNUCKLES Well, you did! SONIC Did not! ROBOTNIK Not so fast, eh! You won't get away, I'll get your dat... Robotnik is about to follow Sonic, but Sara, the president and the old man jump to him into the Egg-O-Matic. ROBOTNIK Get off of me! SARA Stop talking and drive Robotnik - hurry up and catch Sonic! ROBOTNIK Of course I will Sara - buckle up! The Egg-O-Matic appears behind Sonic, and Sara, Robotnik and the president all try to get a hold of him. Sonic thinks that now is a good time to take his leave. SONIC I'm getting outta here, Knuckles! Sonic speeds off. KNUCKLES Hey, wait a minute, SONIC!
